Matthew Carroll

I am walking 25km for sick and injured kids.

Team Vinnie

I am calling on the support of my professional network. In late March I will be participating in the RMHC Walk Me Home walk to raise money for seriously ill children.

On the 8th of January 2025 my nephew Vincent Carroll was born with a rare genetic disorder - Urea Cycle Disorder. UCD prevents his body from excreting ammonia from his bloodstream. At five days old Vinnie was induced in a coma and spent the next 48hrs receiving dialysis. Vinnie then spent the next seven days recovering in hospital. My brother and sister-in-law were fortunate enough to be offered accommodation in the nearby Ronald McDonald House allowing them to be nearby Vinnie during this time. The team at the Queensland Children’s Hospital and Ronald McDonald House made this incredibly challenging period a little more bearable. While there is still a long road ahead, this little fighter is improving every week!
